About Me
Hi! I'm Melanie James. I'm a working encaustic and multi-media landscape artist based in the South-West, UK.
I have a deep-rooted connection to my surroundings, using photography and soundscapes to help capture my inspiration. The conservation and history of the land has become an important aspect in my research as I develop meaning and connection within new landscapes. I aim to create a sense of place with every piece.
Skills
I specialise in encaustic artwork, which means I use layers of wax and resin to create interesting pieces that stand the test of time.
I also work in other mediums, including (but certainly not limited to) ceramics, prints, charcoal, resin, eco-dyed fabric and mixed-media sculptures.
Experience
I participate in frequent exhibitions and have created works in numerous scales and themes.
I have experience in different forms of media including ceramics, encaustic, and other mixed media.
I also have experience with creating exclusive commissions.
